I am a Software Engineer, Scientist, and Researcher. Currently at AML3D, I engineer and develop algorithms for advanced manufacturing applications, specializing in Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM).

Previously, I worked as a Solutions Architect at CSIRO (Australia's National Science Agency) with the Transformational Bioinformatics Group, architecting population-scale bioinformatics platforms and healthcare systems. I received my PhD in Computer Science from the Australian National University (ANU), focusing on metagenomics binning models, machine learning, and high-performance computational biology algorithms.

My expertise bridges algorithmic development for robotic metal additive manufacturing (WAAM), machine learning modelling, GPU acceleration (CUDA), and high-performance systems. But above all, I love solving difficult computational problems and writing clean code 😃.

  • University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka: BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering, securing a GPA of 4.0+ (out of 4.2) along with multiple academic and non-academic honours.
  • Island Rank 68th: Placed 68th all-island (4th in Gampaha district) in the physical sciences stream of the Sri Lankan GCE Advanced Level examination.

I am a Hobbyist DIY'er ⚡️🔋

In my free time, I like to tinker with Jetson Nano, Raspberry Pi, and microcontrollers/SoCs like Onion Omega, ESP32/ESP8266, and Arduino.

I also enjoy self-defined machine learning projects and compute optimization tasks on CUDA. You will find many of them on my GitHub profile and Gists.

From Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and Found Home in Australia 🇦🇺

My hometown is located in Gampaha District, a peaceful non-urban town. I grew up playing on grass and mud, cherishing days spent with my brother and neighborhood friends. A simple village life that wasn't rural and definitely wasn't urban. Even today, I am inspired by simple livelihoods that offer plenty of time for free thought and creativity.

Now that my wife, Vijini, and I are based in Australia, we roam around the continent whenever we get the chance.
